Congrats. On another topic, there's another very dumb poll up on ESPN.com. Who would be te best option to replace Hideki Matsui in LF for the Yankees?
Bobby Abreu Torii Hunter Alfonso Soriano Shannon Stewart Bubba Crosby/Melky Cabrera platoon
The question doesn't get into availability or cost of acquiring which is pretty foolish, so it's purely hypothetical. In that vein, is there any doubt the answer is Abreu? Any? As Todd said, dumb polls bring dumb answers, and Abreu, Soriano and Hunter are all tied inexplicably with the platoon receiving 19%. And is there any baseball problem where the best solution is Bubba Crosby?
I thought the exact same thing when I saw that this morning, Phil. The question was dumb as hell. Abreu is clearly the best *player* but given the ambiguity of the question I think there's damn good argument he's the worst option for the Yankees, because they'd have to give up something really important only to create a logjam in three months when Matsui comes back. The whole thing is so silly. As if that Yankees lineup needs to panic at this point in time because they don't have enough offense.
Congrats on completing your 2L year. It is quite an accomplishment . . . and I would know as I am the guy from USC Law who wrote you last week. I just wanted to wish you luck in your summer job and maybe I will take you up on your offer of taking in a PWG show sometime. Again, congratulations and I hope you enjoy a well deserved break from your studies.

Congrats to you for being done (or perhaps imminently done) and good luck on the summer job as well, Andrew. Just let me know on PWG.
