But in paragraph four, the author parenthetically adds in "wrestling." So there was no conscious aversion, at least in this case, to avoid "wrestling". He just used the two terms interchangeably.
He probably used a curse word before wrestling. The author could have cut the curse word out of the sentence altogether, but that would have made far too much sense.

Maybe instead of "[sports entertainment]" it originally said something zany such as "soliciting sex".
