Styles on ECW's MVP

"Effective with the world premiere of ECW on Sci Fi, ECW.com has asked me to choose a weekly ECW MVP (Most Valuable Player) or, in my words, an ECW MEP (Most Extreme Player).

This week’s ECW M.E.P. is without question The Zombie. The Zombie’s riveting entrance, intensity and pre-match interview embodied everything I have come to expect from sports-entertainment.

The Zombie immediately made this lifelong wrestling fan conjure up images of such other sports-entertainment greats as Max Moon, The Goon and The Gobbledygooker.

Unfortunately, former 5-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion, The Sandman, did not find The Zombie nearly as entertaining as did I and summarily caned the undead sports-entertainer repeatedly before quickly pinning The Zombie after his signature White Russian Leg Sweep.

Runner-up honors go to new ECW “exhibitionist”, Kelly, who I deemed ineligible when she failed to unhook her bra."

Classic stuff from Joey, who at this point you have to feel sorry for.

Along with Max Moon, The Goon and The Gobbledygooker, it would've been a nice shot if Styles compared The Zombie to The Boogeyman.

Also, I hate how "ECW.com" redirects to WWE.com/shows/ecw/

The more Joey shoots on sports-entertainment, the more I fear he'll piss Vince off and get fired.

On Smackdown this week, they played a commercial for the Dusty DVD, featuring a clip of Joey Styles calling Dusty one of the greatest sports entertainers that ever lived.

The last line was classic: "I deemed her ineligible when she proved unable to unhook her bra." Ha ha ha!

I'd feel sorry for Joey, if it weren't for the fact that he should have seen this coming when he signed on with WWE. And when they took him off 'Mania. And when they announced the return of ECW. And...

Steve, what tone of voice did Styles make that comment about Dusty with? Because I can actually imagine that being meant as a compliment (albeit a weird one). Sports entertainment can be good. I don't Styles would be derogatory if he said Rock was a great sports entertainment. But Dusty is harder because he symbolized sports entertainment for both better and worse.

And Swain, yeah, I'm totally with you as far as Styles getting into this mess for himself, but even he couldn't have expected how much he would be jacked around during his WWE reign, both in terms of being humiliated and also in terms of being tempted with a better potential future that isn't coming.

I'm sure Styles was sincere, but it was funny timing. It almost felt like the WWE ran it on purpose this week. The commercial didn't feature any comments from anyone else. Just Styles calling him a great sports entertainer.

I am surprised the WWE didn't edit it better when Kelly couldn't unhook her bra. Or is that something they can use as an excuse when they pull the plug on ECW down the line? I can hear Vince now.... "Those damn ECW stars can't even unhook a bra unlike our beautiful lucious divas..... come her Candice, show me how it's done..... Oh Candice, Ohhhh Candice!! *GROWLS*"
