No, Steve K., the Stanley Cup Playoffs aren't the NBA Playoffs...the hockey postseason is actually compelling and meaningful.
I was having a little fun with the Winged Wheel quip. I've been spoiled the last 12 years or so, but you're spot on - the Wings are no quarantee as evidenced by some of the franchise's playoff flameouts of the past. They could very well have a Cubs-like postseason collaspe at any moment.
Either way, it will be a helluva lot of fun to watch.
I generally do prefer the NHL playoffs to the NBA playoffs, but it's hard for me to say that really definitively because my favorite team has won an NBA playoff series exactly one time in my lifetime. That kind of takes away from my rooting enjoyment.
